2007 TAYO SEARCH QUALIFICATIONS:

The TAYO Search is open to all groups, organizations, clubs, and societies whose membership and leadership is composed of at least fifteen (15) members classified as youth, that is, age 15 to 30 years old.

The Organization shall be judged on the basis of a recent project or program that created an impact on the community and which best reflects the efforts of the youth sector towards nation-building. All Project Entries must have been completed by the deadline of submission of requirements. For continuing projects, a major portion shall have been undertaken by the time of the deadline.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Accomplished Entry Form
2. Certification attesting to the existence of the organization, and to the veracity of the information submitted to the Search
*For Organizations of In-School Youth, a certification from the Office of Student Affairs.
* For Organizations of Out-of-School Youth, a certification from the Barangay Office.
3. A letter of recommendation from an upstanding member of the community.
4. Profile of the Organization (not more than 3 pages, legal size bond paper) – brief description of the organization including background, programs, and track record.
5. Profile of the Project Entry (not more than 1 page, legal size bond paper) – description of project, site, timetable, resources used, level of community involvement, etc.
6. Photo documentation (not more than 3 pages, legal size bond paper)
7. Registration in the Youth Organization Program of the National Youth Commission (YORP) – online registration possible through website www.youth.net.ph.

ENTRY AND SELECTION PROCESS

1. Program promotion and publicity shall be a collective effort, although the TAYO Secretariat may provide a standard format for brochures, posters, nomination forms, and press releases.

2. Entry forms shall be made available in the Office of Student Affairs in schools and colleges nationwide, and in various government agencies, as well as through the National Movement of Young Legislators, Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines human resource offices, DSWD, DepEd and DOLE. Entry forms can be downloaded from this website. Online submission now also available.

3. Accomplished entry forms and other requirements shall be submitted to the TAYO Secretariat, National Youth Commission, 4th floor, Bookman Building, 373 Quezon Avenue, Quezon City. Deadline for submission of entries is on 14 JULY, 2007.

4. Area Screening. Initial screening will take place in the main office of the NYC. Regional (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and NCR) screenings will be held. The screening committee will be selected by the NYC and the Office of Sen. Kiko. A validation process will verify the information submitted by the organization. Area-wide finals will take place after, to identify 5 entries to represent the area in the TAYO National Finals.

5. National Screening. A board of judges shall interview the representatives of the organizations, five from each area. Only one individual may represent the organization. The representative must prepare a five-minute overview of the organization’s Project Entry, and submit to a five-minute panel interview.

6. All TAYO National Finalists will be presented in ceremonies in Malacanang Palace with Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as guest of honor. The organizers will shoulder the transportation and accommodation costs of the representatives during the course of the interviews and the consequent awarding ceremonies.

GENERAL CRITERIA

1. Impact of the Project Entry on the local community (e.g., improvement in income, sanitation, literacy, etc.)
2. Social Mobilization (involvement of the community, especially the youth, in planning, implementation, and evaluation)
3. Innovativeness (application / introduction of new technologies, best practices, and uniqueness of products or services and promotion of indigenous materials)
4. Sustainability and Probability of Duplication

1. Plaque of Commendation
2. Grant amounting to fifty thousand pesos (P50,000.00)
3. Special BAYANIHAN TROPHY for Finalists & Winners, sculpted by National Artist Toym Imao

TAYO SEARCH RULES

1. All entries shall be evaluated mainly on the basis of the Project Entry submitted. An organization shall submit only one Project Entry.
2. There shall be no discrimination as to the organization’s background, ethnic origin, and socio-economic status.
3. The Project Entry submitted for evaluation must not have been a recipient of direct government financial assistance or grants. Funding for the Project Entry must primarily be non-governmental. The allowable limit for government funding is five percent.
4. Recipients of other awards are eligible. Previous TAYO finalists and winners may still participate, provided that they enter a Project Entry different from that entered in the last search.
5. Registration in the NYC’s Youth Organization Registration Program is mandatory.
6. All decisions of the TAYO screening committees and the panel of judges shall be final. No correspondence pertaining to these decisions shall be entertained.
7. The organizers reserve the right to modify, amend, or alter the abovementioned rules, or waive compliance therewith at its sole discretion, if such steps are in accordance with the purpose of the TAYO awards scheme.
8. All materials submitted to the TAYO Secretariat automatically become property of the organizers.
