Blog EntryFinding My Reason To SmileJun 18, '07 9:04 PM
for everyone
I was blog surfing awhile ago and I stumbled upon one celebrity's blog entry. How a simple home-stuff-shopping brightened her day. The simple and odd things that makes one smile.

It got me thinking of my reasons these days to smile.

A few months ago, I didn't have to look so far to find my reasons.

I'd wake up in the morning and there would be a greeting waiting for me that's reason enough for me to smile away the whole day.

But that's then.

This is now.

So today, I'll try to make a list of My Ten (10) Reasons That Made Me Smile. I don't want to rack my mind too much to come up with ten reasons so let's include the weekend.

1. A made my first long drive alone to Baguio and back.

Well, I wasn't really alone. I had my assistant, Rochel and KP with me throughout the trip but it was my first time without any experienced driver with me nor anyone who really knows his way around the highway.

I always enjoy a long drive and there are times that I don't mind having to drive alone. It's therapeutic for me.

Now that I've managed to reach Baguio, next stop: ILOCOS!

2. My very own Absolut Vanilla Vodka.

I bought myself a bottle of Absolut Vanilla Vodka, wrote my name in it and had it stored in Uncle Moe's Shawarma Hub.

I've always wanted to have that regular hangout place where, like Cheers, everybody knows your name. I'd have my personal bottle of vodka and tequila waiting for me there for my next visit. And with my bestfriend, Bunny, and her husband, August, opening their new restaurant this week, I'm claiming it as my new regular tambayan and now I can say, I have a bottle of vanilla vodka waiting for me with my name on it.

3. Uncle Moe's Sharawma Hub

As I mentioned in the above paragraph, my bestfriend and her husband will be opening their new restaurant tomorrow - Uncle Moe's Sharawma Hub.

Now, I'm not saying this just because they're my friends, but they have the most delicious shawarma in town! And August's kebab is to die for!

Damn, just thinking about it makes me fat.

To try it out yourself, go to Uncle Moe's Shawarma Hub at City Golf, J. Vargas St., Ortigas, Pasig City. It's right beside Ortigas Home Depot and Jay-Jay's.

4. Father's Day Treat

Yesterday was Father's Day and I treated my dad and family to lunch.

Well, my mom and I split the bill cause for goodness sake! A buffet lunch for four cost more than 7,000 pesos!?!

We went to this posh Japanese restaurant in Shangri La Hotel, Makati so really I kinda expected that.

So I'm now 3,000 pesos poorer but I satisfied my dad's hunger and fattened his heart with his kids buying him lunch.

Not bad!

5. I finished my newsletter articles today.

I'm a procrastinator. Blame it on the spaniards but I wouldn't have known the term "manyana habit" were it not for them.

The deadline was last Friday so I was really cramming this morning since I haven't written a single paragraph yet.

But now I'm done and submitted them to the appropriate people.

Good job!

6. I paid one of my debts.

I was able to pay my outstanding balance in my old mobile phone today after almost a year of indebtedness.

I'm one step away from Debt Free 2007. Yey!

7. I gave to Missions.

We just finished our World Missions Conference in church last night and there were some missionaries, local and foreign, that gave their wish list in our church. Some were money  to finish their church buildings, toilets for their classrooms, laptop computers and digital cameras.

I looked at my digital camera that I bought with my first paycheck. I figured, God wouldn't give me something new if I don't give away my old ones right? So, I gave my Canon Ixusi to the missionary.

8. Good friends

I'm trying to set up this program I would be implementing next week and I needed a band. Since I'm maarte and would want a good band with my low budget, I called up my friend Joey Dizon, Editor-in-Chief of Pulp Magazine, to hook me up with some bands that he's friends with.

Did I mention I have a low budget?

Understatement.

I have a pauper's budget for the bands that I'm asking for.

Well, that's where good friends come in.

He's willing to beg on my behalf for me to get them.

All I have to do is get him drunk.

Well, he didn't really say that but I'm willing to get him drunk for all his help.

Thanks Joey! ;p

9. Meeting up with bestfriends

After a long day in the office, there's no better way of capping the day with a cup of coffee with friends.

I'm just finishing up and heading out to Ortigas to meet with Bunny.

10. The fact that I have all these reasons to smile about.

Good days are hard to get by these days.

Quoting Maroon 5's Better That We Break Song:

Life these days are getting rough
It knocks you down
And beats you up
But it's just a rollercoaster anyway

Finding even just ONE reason to smile is enough.

So what if I lost my ONE big reason?

I got 10 others to get me through the day.
